The food safety system at The Class Produce Group is based on a GFSI recognized scheme audited by Primus, with a SUPERIOR rating. The food safety program encompasses all the global requirements for a food safety system focusing on recall and traceability, supplier approval, employee training and Good Manufacturing Practices.
As a distribution facility, supplier approval is a pivotal part of the food safety system. Therefore, the Class Produce Group has implemented an aggressive supplier approval program. To become an approved supplier of products or packaging with the Class Produce Group, the prospective supplier must pass and audit by a third party. These audits must occur on an annual basis and can be performed by an independent business or government agency. Once complete, the full audit and corrective action report must be forwarded to the Class Produce Group. GFSI recognized schemes are preferred.
We are also a certified organic handling operation through the Maryland Department of Agriculture. All organic items handled in the facility are subject to the National Organic Program.
